Brian Black, founder and CEO of Brian Black Coaching says that approaching life like a sport and preparing to perform on a daily basis is important to reviving enthusiasm and excitement for work and family.
Waco, TX, July **, 2016: Certified Professional Coach, Brian Black, founder and CEO of Brian Black Coaching, posted a new blog on the Brian Black Coaching website entitled, “Life is a marathon, not a sprint.” The day in, day out sameness of life can drain the excitement, enthusiasm and energy out of work and family life.
Mr. Black says, “It doesn’t have to be that way.” Looking to sports as an example of how people can continuously show up and exceed expectations, Black states, “Preparation is key to performance whether in a sport, a job, business or a family.” Black continues, pointing out that, “First of all, no matter what the sport, track, baseball, football, soccer, basketball, or tennis, the athlete spends 80% of their time preparing for the upcoming event. They practice hour after hour. They have a coach to help them identify their strengths and weaknesses, and what area requires their immediate attention.”
Approaching life like a sport and preparing to perform on a daily basis is important. Mr. Black suggests, “You will most likely notice immediate improvements in your mood and attitude when you spend as little as 15 minutes a day in preparation mode. Each day you’ll go out into the world and put some of your thoughts into action. It may not be a wild success the first day or the second, but remembering that life is a marathon and not a sprint will help keep you motivated to prepare again the next day, and the next.”
